We visited Ine Town the other day. Weather was fine and it was not too hot, either. To get to Ine Town, we had to drive for as long as 2 hours from Kyoto (where we live). Ine Town is located almost at the north-end of Kyoto and it's close to the Sea of Japan. Although we wanted to get there by train and bus, we decided to drive there due to the restrictions under the Covid-19 pandemic.
Ine Town is a small town surrounding a small inlet where lots of fishes can be caught. Right after we arrived Ine Town, and parked my car in the parking lot adjacent to the observatory, we headed to a Sushi restaurant "Wadatsumi". It is a part of a small complex called "Funaya Biyori" which is one of the most popular tourist spots in town.
Sushi and preceded appetizers were beautifully presented and delicious ! No alcohol beverages were served due to the restrictions, but we were all completely satisfied with their Sushi lunch. Chef was very friendly and tought us where the fishes were caught - actually Prawn used for Sushi set was the only ingredient which came from outside of Ine Town, meaning everything else was from the sea right in front of the restaurant. Water in the inlet is super clean.
After lunch, we went to "Ine Cafe" which is right next to the Sushi restaurant. Although the cafe was only partially open that day (because of the restrictions), they served coffee and some sweets. Their waterfront deck was really nice and relaxing. I though I could linger there for 3 - 4 hours.
Oh, Ine town is well-known for "Funaya" fishermen's houses which face the waterfront and have parking garages for fishing boats. That way, boats can stay safe from wind and rain.
